Home Ribbon Tab

Commands available on the Home ribbon tab, grouped by panel.

Move (Alt+I)​

Tooltip: Mouse interaction modes

Choose how mouse clicks interact with the 3D view.

Dropdown items:

  • Move Mode — Switch to Move mode
  • Interrogate — Interrogate the scene

View From​

Tooltip: View and rotation presets

Preset camera positions and rotation resets for the 3D view.

Dropdown items:

  • North — View from north
  • South — View from south
  • East — View from east
  • West — View from west
  • Above — View from above
  • Below — View from below
  • Centre In Model — Centre the view on the model
  • Reset to North — Reset heading to north
  • Reset Rotations — Reset all view rotations
  • Forward View — Look forward
  • Nadir View — Look straight down (nadir)

Tooltip: Navigation modes

Choose between standard, expert, first-person and other navigation styles.

Dropdown items:

  • Standard Mode — Standard navigation mode
  • Expert Mode — Expert navigation mode
  • FPV/Camera View — First-person / camera view
  • VRGSEarth Mode — Earth View Mode
  • Auto Pan — Auto pan the view

Target Zoom​

Tooltip: Zoom to the picked target

Click a point in the 3D view to zoom in towards it.

Game Controller​

Tooltip: Game controller options

Configure or toggle full-screen mode for game-controller navigation.

Dropdown items:

  • Full Screen — Toggle game-controller full screen

Connect GNSS​

Tooltip: Connect to a GNSS receiver

Connect to a GPS / GNSS device for live position tracking. Once connected, the GNSS status pane shows the fix quality, satellite count and accuracy, and the buttons below become available. The dialog also collects the antenna height and, optionally, an NTRIP caster for RTK corrections — see GNSS Field Navigation.

Follow GNSS​

Tooltip: Keep the camera on the live GNSS position

Re-centre the 3D view on the receiver's position as it updates. Needs a connected GNSS receiver and a project coordinate system.

Orientation Here​

Tooltip: Record an orientation at the receiver's position

Open the dip / dip direction dialog for a measurement at your current GNSS position. The position is converted to the project coordinate system and stored like any other orientation — including the survey quality it was captured at.

Waypoint Here​

Tooltip: Record a waypoint at the receiver's position

Create a waypoint at your current GNSS position, in project coordinates.

Sample Here​

Tooltip: Record a sample point at the receiver's position

Create a sample point at your current GNSS position, in project coordinates.

Tooltip: Walk to the point you last picked

Set the point you last clicked in the 3D view as a navigation target. The status pane then shows the distance, a bearing to steer by, and how far you have drifted off the line.

Stop Navigating​

Tooltip: Clear the navigation target

Remove the navigation target and its guidance from the status pane.

Options​

Full Screen​

Tooltip: Toggle full-screen mode

Switch the main window into or out of full-screen mode.

Ortho Camera​

Tooltip: Toggle orthographic camera

Switch the 3D view between perspective and orthographic projection.

Record Movie​

Tooltip: Record a movie of the 3D view

Capture the 3D view to a movie file.

Copy Screen​

Tooltip: Copy the 3D view to the clipboard

Copy the current 3D view as a bitmap image to the clipboard.

Overlays​

Tooltip: On-screen overlays

Dropdown items:

  • Compass — Show or hide the compass (ID_DISPLAYOPT_SHOW_COMPASS)
  • Scale Bar — Scale bar overlay (ID_DISPLAYOPT_SHOW_SCALE_BAR)
  • Colour Bar — Colour bar for the active attribute colour map (ID_DISPLAYOPT_SHOW_COLOURBAR)
  • Strat Column — Stratigraphic column overlay (ID_DISPLAYOPT_SHOW_STRATCOLUMN)
  • Navigator — Navigation buttons (ID_DISPLAYOPT_NAVIGATOR)

Base map and terrain layers​

  • Cesium Elevation — Cesium World Terrain elevation (ID_VIEW_SATELLITE_BASEMAP)
  • Google Tiles — Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles (ID_VIEW_GOOGLE_3D_TILES)
  • Google Satellite / Satellite Imagery — Google satellite imagery (ID_VIEW_GOOGLE_SATELLITE)
  • Roads — Google road map (ID_VIEW_GOOGLE_ROADMAP)

Tooltip: Scene display options

Dropdown items:

  • Base Plane — Show the base plane (ID_SHOW_BASEPLANE)
  • Laser Pointer — Show the laser pointer (ID_SHOW_LASERPOINTER)
  • Backface Culling — Enable backface culling (ID_ENABLE_BACKFACE_CULLING)
  • Collision Detection — Enable collision detection (ID_ENABLE_COLLISIONDETECTION)
  • Auto Properties — Show an object's properties automatically when it is selected (ID_VIEW_AUTOSELECT)

VR​

MultiUser​

Tooltip: Multi-user (VFT) commands

Start a server or join an existing Virtual Field Trip session.

Dropdown items:

  • Start Server — Start a multi-user trip server
  • Join Trip — Join an existing trip

Connect HMD​

Tooltip: Connect a head-mounted display

Connect a VR headset and switch the 3D view to VR rendering.

GeoTour Log On​

Tooltip: Log into your Geotour account

Access online services such as Outcrop.io and multi-user virtual field trips.

Upload to Cloud​

Push the project's interpretation history to the cloud, so it can be shared or pulled down on another machine. See Interpretation Version Control.
