Stereonet Ribbon Tab

Context-sensitive tab — appears when the Stereonet context is active.

Commands available on the Stereonet ribbon tab, grouped by panel.

Most stereonet controls are not on the ribbon

This tab carries navigation and pole selection only. Everything that decides what is drawn — poles, planes, contours, the rose and dip plots, the grid, the key and the stress-attribute field — lives in the property sheet, and the display toggles, selection commands, 2D/3D view modes and SVG export are on the net's right-click menu.

Both are documented in the Stereonet User Guide.

Zoom To Fit

Tooltip: Zoom to fit

Fit the entire stereonet within the window.

Zoom In

Tooltip: Zoom in

Zoom into the stereonet around its centre.

Zoom Out

Tooltip: Zoom out

Zoom out of the stereonet around its centre.

Select From Poles

Selection is shared with the rest of VRGS: poles picked here are selected on the objects themselves, so they are selected in the 3D view and in the trees too.

Rectangle

Tooltip: Select poles inside a rectangle

Drag a rectangle on the stereonet to select all poles inside it.

Ellipse

Tooltip: Select poles inside an ellipse

Drag an ellipse on the stereonet to select all poles inside it.

Polygon

Tooltip: Select poles inside a polygon

Draw a closed polygon on the stereonet to select all poles inside it.

Sector

Tooltip: Select poles inside a sector

Define an angular sector on the stereonet to select all poles within it.

Hide Unselected

Tooltip: Hide unselected poles

Hide every orientation that is not part of the current selection — in the 3D view as well as on the net.

tip

Having selected a cluster, right-click and choose View in 3D window to fly the 3D view to where those poles came from.
