Flight Path Point of Interest

Right-click commands for Point of Interest in the Interpretation Tree.

A point of interest marks a place on the outcrop that you want a flight path to show. It is not a camera pose: Auto Generate decides where to stand the camera so that the point is framed and the camera stays out of the rock. Points of interest collect under a flight path's Points of Interest branch, and are drawn on the outcrop with a glyph showing what each one does — so a glance tells you which will be orbited and which merely looked at.

Place them with Add POI on the Flight Path ribbon tab. See Points of interest.

Right-click an individual point of interest in the Interpretation Tree.

Actions

  • Navigate To — Snap the 3D camera to this point of interest. (ID_POPUP_ITEM_GOTO)
  • Delete — Remove this point of interest from the flight path. (ID_POPUP_ITEM_DELETE)
  • Rename — Rename it. The name is used to label the keyframe it generates. (ID_ITEM_RENAME)
Move one without re-placing it

The Reposition tool drags a point of interest exactly as it drags a waypoint or sample point.

Properties

Select a point of interest to edit it in the properties panel. Every 0 means automatic field falls back to the value set in the Auto Generate dialog, and that in turn falls back to a fraction of the scene size — so a point placed with one click and never edited still generates a sensible camera.

Pitch (degrees)Downward tilt applied here, positive looking down. Leave at 0 to use the value from the Auto Generate dialog.
Rotate Around → RadiusOrbit radius. 0 = use the standoff.
Rotate Around → Sweep (degrees)Arc swept around the point. 360 is a full turn.
Rotate Around → KeyframesHow many viewpoints are generated around the arc.
Surface → NormalRead-only. The orientation of the surface at the point you clicked, which is what lets the camera follow bays and noses in the face. Absent when no surface was available at the pick — on a bare point cloud, or in a project made before this feature — in which case the overall face direction is used for this point instead.
